Take NM 4 east for about 30 miles to NM 501 (East Jemez Road), where you will see the old "Back Gate" of the Manhattan Project on your left. Take a sharp left turn onto NM 501 toward Los Alamos. Continue on NM 501 east for 3 miles until you hit West Road. Take an immediate left onto West Road.

(If you continue on NM 501, you will go through Los Alamos National Laboratory's security checkpoint, which you can do with a valid driver's license. Note that firearms, explosives, cameras, and other items are prohibited on laboratory property under the federal Atomic Secrets Act. So West Road is your best option.)

Continue on West Road for about 2.3 miles into Los Alamos Canyon, past the skating rink (on your right) and back up out of the canyon (where you will see the iconic Omega Bridge spanning the canyon) to Diamond Drive. Take a left onto Diamond Drive.

Drive 2.5 miles bearing east on Diamond Drive until you hit the roundabout. Take the third exit (traveling counterclockwise) in the roundabout onto San Ildefonso Road. Drive 0.6 miles to the sharp right-handed hairpin turn. Take an immediate left halfway into the hairpin onto Rendija Road. Follow Rendija Road downhill into the canyon and continue approximately 1 mile from San Ildefonso Road to the Los Alamos Sportsmen's Club entrance on the left.

Directions from White Rock, NM:

Approximately 30 minutes

(20 miles)

Take NM 4 east to East Jemez Road (a stoplight along NM 4). Turn left onto East Jemez Road and drive approximately 12 miles to the Diamond Drive intersection. Continue going straight onto Diamond Drive, crossing the iconic Omega Bridge over Los Alamos Canyon. Continue on Diamond Drive for about 2.5 miles until you hit the roundabout.
